When recruited by Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Pol Espargaro it is predicted to be directly promoted to Movistar Yamaha in 2015. Although to be delayed, Yamaha believe that Espargaro still has a place in their team.
The opportunity of Pol Espargaro to get Movistar Yamaha MotoGP promotion was closed after the team decided to extend the contract both riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi. The duo will last at least until the contract runs out in 2016.
That means Pol Espargaro will have a new opportunity to strengthen the major Yamaha team in 2017. Ducati and Suzuki reportedly keen to sign him, hoping Yamaha camp talented rider from Spain was willing to endure.
"It depends on the next season options. I believe Pol is a smart rider and if this time you want to be in the top group then you need a contract from the HRC or the Yamaha Factory Racing and if locked out that it was not an option, "said Yamaha boss team Lin Jarvis, in MCN.
"Suzuki showed interest in him for 2015 and he chose to stick it where he is now is the right step to do. Is he going to follow that way? I do not know. Ducati also interested, so no one knows for sure the options available in 2016, "he continued.
Made his debut in MotoGP this season, Pol Espargaro finish the season in sixth place of the standings with a value of 136. The best result was a fourth finish place he achieved in France.
"I want to see Pol survive in Yamaha but I do not know whether he would be able to do it, but we'll see. He performed well and he's still got a lot to learn, I want him to survive in this group and be very competitive," complete Jarvis .
