Elephant Sands is a bush lodge in the north-eastern part of Botswana and an ideal stopover to the Makgadikgadi pans, the Okavango delta and Chobe National Park. Victoria Falls and Hwange National Park.
We spend one night here on our way to Zambia.
The elephants are the main attraction here. If you love elephants and want to experience these amazing animals, metres away from you, then make sure to book at Elephant Sands.

There is a waterhole right in front of a terrace and boma and also where dinner is served. You can sit there and watch the elephants drinking water.
It’s really an amazing experience to be so close to these majestic animals.
The accommodation is basic. There are mosquito nets in the rooms and clean bedding. It can get cold during the night, even during summer.

Things you should know before booking:
• Electricity is run on a generator which is turned off at night. (they provide candles)
• There are no plugs (electric sockets) inside the chalets (we charged our cellphones from our vehicle)
• In the campsite there are no electrical power points.
• If you’d like to charge your phone, camera or laptop, you can do it at the restaurant area.
• No credit card facilities. They accept Pula, Rand, Euro and US Dollar.
• The chalets are not self-catering. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.• Firewood is available for purchase.
• The water provided for shower is pumped from an area that has a higher salt content, that why it tastes salty.
• There are hot-water showers in the chalets and the campsite ablutions. The water is heated by so called ‘donkeys’/ boilers.
• Mosquito nets are provided in the chalets but bring repellent, especially in the summer months (November-April) for the evenings.
• The campsite & lodge are unfenced; all animals roam freely, which means you can expect to see anything. We saw elephant footstep’s metres away from our vehicle and chalet!
• Always bring a good torch or headlamp with you if you do not want to bump into a browsing giant outside your chalet.
