six series so far only once Fernando Alonso on the podium . In Canada at the
weekend , the Ferrari driver was hoping to get closer to the podium .
Alonso 's best achievement in the 2014 season comes in China when he finished
third . While the race before this in Monaco , Alonso had to settle for
finishing in fourth position behind Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo , with
rider - rider Mercedes - Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton - back to being a
winner .
Alonso admitted that he was aware that this season Ferrari have not been able
to meet expectations . However , he believes the ' Prancing Horse ' kept pace
in a positive direction .
" We'll see how it goes , I think we should be calm and work hard , "
Alonso said when asked about his expectations in Canada , as quoted by ESPN F1

" We must answer their expectations . We 've brought new parts to every
race this year - some work well , others do not , so we just have to maximize
the new parts in Canada .
" Hopefully we can get a good result on Friday with a test okay and
empowering the new parts , and then hopefully we can get closer to the podium (
than in Monaco ) . I have no doubt we will be competitive in every race ,
although I do not know how big , " he said .
